If you know Neofid Studios, you also know that we have distinguished ourselves so far with our developments for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis, which we have pushed to the limit of its capabilities.
In order to overcome the technical limitations of the latter and to present an even more ambitious version of the game, we have decided this time to develop for two more powerful consoles: the Game Boy Advance and the Neo-Geo.
In 2021, thanks to you, the success of Demons of Asteborg on Megadrive exceeded our expectations and propelled us among the top developers in the field. Today, in order to repay the most loyal fans of our flagship license, we are stepping up again to perfect the player experience of Demons of Asteborg.
More power, more colors, more content, better difficulty balancing, and many bonuses compared to the original version: with the capabilities of the GBA and the Neo-Geo, we offer you a renewed and even more exceptional gaming experience.
A game that is more beautiful, fairer, and much more enjoyable.
At its release, Demons of Asteborg was the largest game ever published on Sega Megadrive with no less than 120 MB of content:
- 10 Levels
- 4 playable characters
- 3 difficulty modes
- 8 Special Powers
- Over a hundred different enemies
- 10 Boss to defeat
The challenge is huge, but we will do everything in our power to continue pushing the limits.
We migh even discover new levels in Asteborg !
We want to take our time to release the best possible version of Demons of Asteborg DX, we plan to start shipping the GBA version by July 2026, while the Neo-Geo version will have to wait until November 2026.

There is a bug with the current demo. The English language option shows the dialogue/text in French.

Will there be a PC playable version like the original? More than happy to buy on Steam like the original game. Happy to pay more for it than the original as well#
Parries. Another game I can safely skip.
Fair enough, parry-based combat isn't for everyone. Worth mentioning that parries aren't required to clear the game, they're an option, not the core system.
If you ever change your mind, the demo is free , don't hesitate to give it a try!
So this project was seemingly abandoned. There appear to be people complaining in the indiegogo page sadly.

Will the steam version include roms for playing on proper hardware?
The Steam version comes with the GBA build embedded in our own launcher, so the ROM itself isn't extractable, we keep it locked to avoid the file circulating freely.
If you want to play on real hardware, that's exactly what the GBA cartridge tier is for. Plays on any GBA or compatible handheld. Boxed and produced in France !

So beyond extracting it from the steam game there no way to play the game on devices like the ayn thor?
I understand you all have reasons why you’ve chosen not to sell a ROM at this time.
But if you decide to make it available in the future I will gladly pay for it. Hope it will be considered after the game has been out there for a while.
I’ve bought your other digital releases and like to play on a mix of original hardware and emulators, but do not collect carts.
Funny because the reason I bought Astebros on Steam was so I could copy the ROM to all my devices. It's a shame that it is assumed that hiding the ROM will actually stop people that want to pirate the game. They're the most persistent in finding ways to crack games, this only hurts actual fans of your games.

Offer the digital version please already. Not everyone that wants to actually play these games is a collector. Most of us want to play modern retro games legitimately on retro handhelds like the TrimUI Brick, Retroid Pocket etc...
Please give us the option to buy digital asap.

That's really great. Thank you - I will buy it on Steam, particularly since Android devices can now run purchased Steam games legitimately via GameNative and the like - and maybe with a purchase we can be given instruction to extract the rom for retro handhelds?

I would love to pay for the GBA or Neo Geo ROM files. But, it looks like that might not be a thing because of piracy concern. The fundraiser page shows the Neo Geo has a better resolution...I'm not really sure which would be the best experience.

Very cool and technically excellent game that has rarely been seen on the GBA, especially the multi-scrolling. And it plays fantastically too. Thanks! The ROM available to purchase on your website is for Genesis, I assume the GBA version will be available when it's finally released? I don't see a way to 'prepay' for the GBA one.
very nicely done!
the scenarios and enemies looks very impressive (specially the world map *chef kiss*), but the main character looks a bit dull in its animations, specially the sword combo frames. Any way great work!
You should create a new Kickstarter campaign with just the GBA version. Surely the expenses to produce a GBA game are much lower and you could finance the game. I wouldn't like all of this to go to waste.

I played the demo, I saw some problems, one of them was when pressing the button that raises the water I went to the left side which is not the correct one so I went back and had to go through the scene again to press the button, a suggestion, button dedicated to scroll but keep the scroll function using Down + A
